A class apart
Friday 21 July 2017 (update 15 september 2017)
In the second quarter of 2017 more recovery operations than ever before were performed on IM roads. The 65 contracted IM recovery companies were called upon on 18,968 occasions, 11% more than in the second quarter of 2016. The average arrival time for these assignments was 13:13 minutes, comparable to the record performance in the first quarter. If the figures are corrected for the delay faced by the recovery companies as a result of traffic congestion, the national average is 11:316 minutes.
Jeffrey Scholten (L) and Mark Tuijtel from Takel-, Berging- en Transportbedrijf A. Barendregt
Takel-, Berging- en Transportbedrijf A. Barendregt in Rhoon consolidated its position as the country's fastest IM recovery company. For a total of 1,676 recoveries the company recorded an average corrected arrival time of 7:23 minutes. This was almost four minutes faster than the national average.
This unique achievement was the result of an innovative procedure whereby the company performs patrol services during rush hours, for example. In addition, the planning department ensures that the deployed recovery vehicles remain continuously well distributed throughout the area of operation. Furthermore, Barendregt does not wait for reports from the LCM but rather responds to drivers' reports on the Waze platform. This poses the risk of a wasted callout, but in many cases leads to significant time gains compared to a report from the official channels.
Ary Barendregt
In the second quarter of 2017, 69 of the 211 IM districts performed significantly better than the contractual standard. These are districts in which at least 95% of the recoveries were performed with an arrival time within the contractual standard times of 20 minutes during the day and 25 minutes between 11.00 p.m. and 5.00 a.m. This figure is so high that Stichting IMN has decided that in future it will only report districts in which an arrival time is achieved within the standard time for all recoveries. There were 20 in the second quarter.

The tables only mention districts that had released a complete quarterly report in the last quarter. These are districts in which ten or more recoveries were performed and districts for which the last quarter was the last in a series of quarters that exceeded the minimum 10 recoveries required for reporting. Average arrival time times are reported after delay correction due to files. When determining the number of kilometers in each district, the two lanes of roads with separated lanes are counted as separate roads. No rights can be derived from the data in the tables.
