Quiet New Year's night
Monday 4 January 2016
The last IM recovery in 2015 was carried out by Adrie Klomp of Theo Rood Berging en Transport based in Zwaag. The incident in question was an accident on the A7 motorway close to the former headquarters of DSB Bank in Wognum. The report was received at 23.28 hours, by the National Central Reporting Point (LCM). The next reported incident, on the A12 motorway at Bodegraven, was not received until more than an hour later. This, the first recovery of the new year, was carried out by Bergingscentrale Utrecht (BCU). The next few hours, however, proved far busier.

The report of the accident on the A7 brought the total number of incidents on IM roads in 2015 to 77,095 on the basis of the provisional figures. This represented a rise of 12% as compared to 2014, and was just 5% below the record established in 2012. The busiest month of the year was November. A surfeit of rain and wind made this month, with 7,815 incidents, one of the most turbulent ever. Only in February 2012, a month hallmarked by heavy snowfall, did the National Central Reporting Point receive more incident reports.
