Tender procedure has no effect on arrival times
Thursday 25 October 2012 (correction 23 November 2012)
In the third quarter of 2013, car drivers had no reason to complain about the performance of recovery companies on the trunk road network. The 94 recovery companies on IM roads received a total of 15,612 orders to recover vehicles from the roadside. On average, it took the recovery vehicles just 13 minutes and 27 seconds to arrive at the scene of the incident, following receipt of the incident notice. Once the figure is corrected for delays due to traffic congestion, the average arrival time amounts to 11 minutes and 39 seconds.
These figures are almost identical to those for the second quarter. The conclusion is that the Dutch recovery companies were in no way distracted by the tender procedure for new recovery agreements for the period 2013 - 2016, which took place during the third quarter of the year. The decision by the Court of Amsterdam to ban Stichting Incident Management Nederland from including the performance achieved during the current contract period in the tender procedure had no negative effect on the motivation of the recovery companies to deliver good performance. Once again, this is clear evidence from the sector of its dedication and professionalism.
In 57 work areas (almost 35% of the total), locally-operating recovery companies arrived at the scene within twenty minutes, in more than 95% of all cases. In 17 districts, the locally-contracted recovery company succeeded in arriving on the scene within twenty minutes, on every single callout. An overview of the districts in which recovery companies achieved a 95% or 100% score appears in the table below. Stichting Incident Management Nederland would like to thank the companies in question for their excellent efforts.
