Quiet fourth quarter

In the fourth quarter of 2024, IM recovery operators carried out 40,883 recoveries on the primary road network in the Netherlands. That was 4% less than in the last quarter of 2023. The average response time in the fourth quarter was 10.34 minutes, among the best of recent years.

The quickest IM recovery operator in the country was Collewijn & Zn in Nuis, near Groningen. That company was called out to 92 incidents, achieving an average response time of 6.49 minutes. In the last quarter, too, Collewijn was top of the leader board, recording even quicker average times: 5.55 minutes. That could not be seen in the published list for that quarter, as the list in question was restricted to operators that had carried out at least 250 vehicle recoveries.

Excellent response times were also recorded by Besems Recovery Service in Tilburg and Berging Combinatie Zeeland ("BCZ") in Vlissingen. BCZ was almost a minute and a half quicker than in the preceding quarter. Among the larger recovery operators, Takel-, Berging- en Transportbedrijf A. Barendregt, in Rhoon, was the fastest. Barendregt responded to 9% of the volume nationwide, doing so in an average response time of 7.23 minutes.

Automobiel- en Takelbedrijf Schoenmaker en Zn ("Schoenmaker en Zn") in Avenhorn (NH) was hit by the death of its founder, Dick Schoenmaker. He was 88 years old. Dick Schoenmaker had transferred day-to-day management of the business years ago to his son Ron. Nonetheless, until recently he could be found at the business nearly every day.

There, he could witness the exceptional punctuality that was the hallmark of Schoenmaker & Zn in each and every quarter. It must have done him good to know that his farewell had no effect on the company's performance. In the fourth quarter of 2024, Schoenmaker & Zn was, as in the four quarters that preceded it in this contract period, a recovery operator that succeeded in responding to all vehicle recoveries in a response time of under 20 minutes, despite having the most widespread area.
