Heyday
Monday 19 December 2022
On 8 December, Stichting IMN said farewell to its departing chair Ryan Florijn. After a career with insurance company Achmea, on 6 September 2017 Florijn became managing director of Eurocross. It was his first position in the business of professional assistance for motorists. But that didn't stop him from being elected chair of Stichting IMN almost immediately after his appointment. He continued to fulfil that role until 1 July of this year.

During Florijn's period as chair, IM recovery operators achieved the best response times in the history of Stichting IMN. A lot of this could be attributed to the success of a new procurement method. IM recovery operators were able to charge higher rates in the 2019 - 2022 contract period if they reduced their response times. That ensured better rates for recovery operators and a sharp rise in performance for Stichting IMN customers.

Changes were also visible at Stichting IMN's national response centre, the LCM. The system for exchanging messages with Rijkswaterstaat was automated, which signalled the end for incident reports being relayed by telephone. Under the stewardship of Ryan Florijn, the annual number of IM callouts rose from 125,000 at the start of his term to 190,000 on leaving. The operation of the LCM was the subject of a public procurement procedure in 2021. Just before Florijn's departure, this procedure resulted in the decision to outsource LCM operations to VHD in Deventer, with effect from 28 December of this year.
