Many accidents in the fourth quarter

Thursday, 10 February 2022 (update 4 March 2022)
IM recovery operators carried out 31,288 recoveries in the fourth quarter of 2021, setting a record. The number of accidents was particularly notable, climbing to a total of 6,250. This was 25% up on the previous quarter, and the highest figure since the last quarter of 2019. Back then, operators dealt with 8,137 collisions. The fourth quarter is traditionally the period with the highest number of accidents in any given year.

Bergingscentrale H. v.d. Vliet in Abbenes was, once more in the fourth quarter, the quickest recovery operator in the country, followed by four operators in and around Rotterdam and The Hague: Barendregt, Roos, Vreugdenhil and Van de Graaf. Bergingsdienst.nl in Liempde (NB) proved that you don't have to be based in Zuid-Holland to be among the top performers. This company achieved an average response time of 8:28 minutes and, as a result, made it to sixth place, just behind Jan van de Graaf Jr. from Rotterdam.

In the fourth quarter, the target of performing all recovery operations with a response time in each case that is under the standard of twenty minutes during the day and twenty-five minutes at night was hit in just six operations areas. Two of those, on either side of the River Meuse at Cuijk, are served by Autohulpdienst Ben Heiltjes, a company that frequently features in this list.
