VTC formally recognised as a training centre for IM recovery operators
Monday, 21 September 2020
Stichting IMN had formally recognised the Opleidingscentrum voor Verticaal Transport ('Vertical Transport Training Centre', VTC) in Ede as a training centre for IM recovery operators. Since 2002, VTC has administered training courses for operators of mobile cranes, tower cranes, overhead cranes, offshore cranes, telescopic handlers, truck-mounted cranes and earth-moving equipment suitable for lifting loads. This range of training courses has now been expanded to include a course for vehicle-recovery specialists.

In 2019, VTC started devising a training course for recovery operators. In April of this year, the course was provisionally recognised by Stichting IMN. This meant that the process of recruiting course participants for an initial training week could begin. That course took place at the start of this month on the VTC site in Ede.
Five participants were trained in the theory and practice of vehicle recovery work, and in the safety regulations that apply to working on motorways. Lucien Hamers, of Bergingscentrale Drechtsteden, made a contribution to teaching. Marck Pleijsier, of Stichting IMN, was in attendance to check that the course and examination met all the requirements. Using his findings, Stichting IMN decided to give the course full accreditation.
