LCM to return to SOS
Tuesday 18 September 2018
From 9 June 2019 onwards, SOS International (SOS) will become the new operator for the National Central Reporting Point (LCM) of Stichting IMN. For the past few months, the operation of the LCM has been the subject of a tendering procedure. SOS was selected as winner of that procedure. In 2015 and 2016, SOS was also LCM operator.

At present this is only an initial awarding decision. Other participants in the tendering procedure have an opportunity to appeal the decision taken. SOS will also be required to undertake a number of practical tests. If they are successfully concluded, the definitive decision will be announced at the start of 2019. The operation of the National Central Reporting Point is awarded for a period of five years.
The LCM is the reporting centre of Stichting IMN, and each year processes more than 120,000 reports of incidents involving passenger cars. These divide into 55,000 reports of accidents and 65,000 reports of broken-down vehicles that represent a hazard to traffic. Reports are received by the control rooms operated by the police, traffic control centres of Rijkswaterstaat and the ANWB emergency control centre. On the basis of reports received, the LCM calls in a recovery company.
