Best quarter since 2012

In the first quarter of 2017, IM recovery operators achieved the best arrival times since 2012. 18,229 recoveries were carried out, with an average arrival time of 13:13 minutes. This was three-quarters of a minute faster than in the previous quarter. The only quarter in which a better performance was achieved was the second quarter of 2012, when 15,605 recovery orders were completed within an average arrival time of 13:04 minutes.

Eilko and Martin Hamstra of Hamstra Internationaal Bergingsbedrijf in Tynaarlo This improvement in the national performance was mainly the consequence of the selection of new recovery operators in districts in which no good results had previously been achieved. These new contract partners in all cases performed better than their predecessors, and in certain cases much better. One clear example was Hamstra Internationaal Bergingsbedrijf from Tynaarlo, Drenthe. This company took over district D52 around Assen on 1 January. For all recovery orders received, the company achieved arrival times within the standard contractual times. The introduction of a standby scheme in Amsterdam also helped improve the figures. The Amsterdam-based recovery company Bergnet succeeded in reducing the average arrival time for more than 2,000 recoveries by almost two minutes. Bergnet has once again been the country's largest IM recovery operator since 1 December 2016.

There were 68 districts in which excellent performance was achieved in the first quarter. This too is a number that was only beaten in the second quarter of 2012. On that occasion, there were 69 excellent performances. An overview of the districts in which at least 95% of recovery operations carried out were completed in an arrival time within the standard time of 20 minutes during the day and 25 minutes at night appears in the table below. Districts in which the IM recovery operator succeeded in completing all recoveries at the incident location within the standard time, are marked with an asterisk.
