Growth in IM recoveries continues into third quarter

In the third quarter of 2014, 14,195 vehicle recoveries were carried out on IM roads, 14% more than in the same quarter in 2013. This seems to mark a definitive end to the downward trend first started in the fourth quarter of 2012.

The upturn is probably due to stricter compliance with the pechinstructie by traffic control centres of Rijkswaterstaat. This also explains the huge rise in the number of security operations. IM recovery operators were called in on 205 occasions to secure an incident location, more often than the total number of callouts in the six previous quarters.
Arrival times by IM recovery operators in the third quarter of 2014 were slightly higher than in the previous quarter. The average arrival time for all completed recoveries was 13:46 minutes, fifteen seconds more than in the second quarter. Corrected for delays due to traffic congestion, the average arrival time was 12:09 minutes.
Recovery operators who clearly performed above the official standard in the past quarter appear in the table below. Kraanbedrijf W. Stouwdam from Oldebroek deserves a special mention. The contract period 2013 - 2016 has now completed its sixth quarter, and to date in all districts contracted by Stouwdam in that period, the company has achieved an arrival time at all callouts received within the standard time of twenty minutes during daytime hours and twenty-five minutes at night. This is now an honour reserved for this company alone.
