Takeovers and investments in the recovery sector
Wednesday 8 October 2014
On 1 October 2014, for the seventh time this year, a recovery company changed hands. The company in question is Mettler BV based in Schijndel. If we also consider the final months of 2013, the total number of takeovers amounts to nine. In all nine cases, the buyers were other recovery companies. Six of the nine takeovers were the work of just two companies: Van Eijck in Hulten and Bergnet in Amsterdam. The table below contains an overview of the transactions.

The sector continues to be dominated by small companies. Above all outside the Randstad conurbation, these operators form the backbone of the IM network. The larger companies are however becoming ever more important. This trend is amplified by the investments being made by large recovery companies in opening new branches. Over the past twelve months, new branches were opened in Rijswijk, Leiden, Amersfoort, Rotterdam, Emmeloord and Amsterdam. Today there are 19 IM recovery companies with more than one certified operating location. Frontrunners with six locations or more are Van Eijck, BCU, Logicx and Wolves.
