Strength through competition
Tuesday 5 November 2013
The national network of recovery companies on IM roads performed well in the third quarter of 2013. 12.440 recovery operations were undertaken. The average arrival time was 13:46 minutes. The corrected average for delays as a consequence of congestion was 12:09 minutes, making these figures practically unchanged from the previous quarter.
The best arrival times were achieved in and around Rotterdam, as has been the case for years. The most remarkable aspect, however, was that the 'changing of the guard' that took place in the Rotterdam area on 1 April 2013 in no way deducted from the performance provided. The three Rotterdam recovery companies Barendregt, Van de Graaf and Quartel completed 1,806 recovery operations, almost 15% of the national total. Their average arrival time of 10:01 minutes was almost four minutes below the national average.
Excellent performance was also recorded elsewhere in the country. Bergingsbedrijf Dorenbos, responsible for IM recovery work in the north of Drenthe since 1 April, deserves a special mention. To date, Dorenbos has responded to all received reports within the standard time of twenty minutes during daylight hours and twenty-five minutes at night. The fact that in this district not more than two IM orders are received per month in no way detracts from the operational readiness of the company.
The table below contains an overview of all districts in which clearly above-standard performance was achieved in the third quarter. Stichting Incident Management Nederland would like to thank all IM recovery companies for their excellent efforts.
