Recovery companies take it slow
Monday 4 February 2013
In the last quarter of 2012, the average arrival time for a recovery vehicle on the trunk road network was more than a minute longer than in the preceding quarters. In the last quarter of the year, IM recovery companies dealt with 14,008 IM callouts. The average arrival time was 14 minutes and 32 seconds. Although this was a satisfactory performance, the figure was clearly higher than the 13 minutes and 26 seconds achieved in the third quarter of 2012. In the record-breaking preceding quarter, the average arrival time was in fact cut to just 13 minutes and 4 seconds.
The reason for this poorer performance is probably the fact that the contract period 2010 - 2013 was drawing to a close, with a new team of IM recovery companies taking over the reins on 1 April 2013. Above all recovery operators not set to continue their work after 1 April will have found it difficult to maintain the extremely high levels of performance achieved in the previous quarters.
In numerous districts, however, the performance provided was once again excellent. In sixteen districts, the local recovery companies succeeded in arriving at the scene of the reported incident within twenty minutes, on 100% of all callouts. In these districts, during the fourth quarter, a total of 632 recovery operations were carried out. Two of these successful districts had in the past never achieved a 100% perfect score.
In district NB311, to the west of Waalwijk, Ad Rutters achieved a 100% score. He had in the past repeatedly achieved this perfect score in the far busier districts NB303 (Oosterhout) and NB304 (Geertruidenberg), but never before on this relatively quiet section of the A59. District U207, Abcoude, was another newcomer to the list of perfectly-scoring districts. On this busy section of the A2 motorway, Bergnet arrived at the scene of the accident on each of the 50 registered callouts within twenty minutes. Nine of these callouts took place between 23.00 hours and 05.00 hours.
The table below contains a list of districts in which recovery companies achieved a score of 95% or 100%. Stichting Incident Management Nederland would like to thank the companies in question for their dedication.
