Kralingen and Bijlmer busiest IM districts
Monday 12 April 2010
In 2009, districts ZH163 and NH135 were once again the busiest IM districts in the country. On the motorways around Kralingen in district ZH163 (A16, A20 and Terbregseplein), 2,921 incident reports were dealt with, 15% more than in 2008. On the motorways around the Bijlmer in district NH135 (A1, A2, A6, A9 and A10), a total of 1,920 incidents were reported, representing a 14% rise as compared to 2008.
More than 1,000 incidents occurred in ten districts. These districts, together representing 26% of all IM reports, were all in the Randstad or along the A1 and A2 motorways in Gelderland and Noord-Brabant. In 146 districts, three-quarters of the total, less than 1 incident was reported per day. Of these 146, forty saw the total stop at 36 (three per month) or less. An overview of IM reports in all IM districts in 2009 appears in the attachment.
The majority of incidents, as usual, occurred during the fourth quarter of the year. With 6,335 reports, December was the busiest month in 2009. November and October followed, with 5,826 and 5,290 reports, respectively. The Police remains the most important source of reports. The various police control rooms supplied 57% of all IM reports in 2009. Rijkswaterstaat was responsible for 33% of IM reports and the remaining 10% was attributed almost entirely to the ANWB car owners club, passing on 4,997 IM reports, generally for breakdowns at hazardous locations.
