Back to 2017

Tuesday 26 May 2020
In the week that includes Ascension Day, Stichting IMN's National Central Reporting Point (LCM) processed 1,870 incident reports on the primary road network. That is 50% more than in the last two weeks of March. That means that, following an abrupt drop in the second half of March 2020, the number of IM reports has returned to the level of the summer of 2017. The majority of reports were made on the Wednesday and Friday either side of Ascension Day itself. On 20 May, a serious accident on the A1 at Barneveld caused a traffic jam that led to delays of more than an hour.

The number of incidents is still 35% lower than levels at the start of March. The number of accidents is even 50% lower than at the start of the month. Otherwise, the 'recovery' in terms of traffic density is not the same in all parts of the country as a whole. In the north of the country, hardly any drop can be registered any more. In Brabant and Zeeland, however, the number of reports is still less than half the 'old' level.
