SOS takes over operations at the National Central Reporting Point

Wednesday 1 April 2015
At 15 seconds before midday, SOS International received the first call-out for Stichting Incident Management Nederland's National Central Reporting Point (LCM). The incident in question was a collision between two cars at the junction of Schapendijk and Buitenhof in Almelo. The call-out came from the Twente police control centre and was taken at SOS by Joke Hendriks. The recovery was carried out by Wolves Berging of Wierden.

This call marked the end of a period of five years and nine months in which the LCM was operated by Allianz Global Assistance. During that period, the LCM grew from a mere telephone control centre into a highly automated command and control centre. In the coming years, Stichting Incident Management Nederland and SOS will together face the challenge of digitising the entire incident reporting chain: from the police control centres and traffic control centres, via the LCM to the recovery services.
