Departure of fast recovery companies

Tuesday 7 May 2013

afscheid snelle bergers On 1 April 2013, Stichting Incident Management Nederland was forced to accept the departure of a number of the fastest and best recovery companies in the Netherlands. During the tender procedure for recovery agreements for the contract period 2013 - 2016, many recovery companies failed to retain their position. Ten recovery operators in fact lost all their recovery work on the trunk road network. Five of them were among the best operators in the contract period 2010 - 2013. In order of speed, these were Van Egeraat Berging en Transport in Roosendaal, Automobielbedrijf Bos in Zoetermeer, De Haan Berging en Transport in Bleiswijk, Auto Cüppers in Maria Hoop and Garagebedrijf Gebrs van Dongen in Zeeland. The table below shows the number of quarters in which these companies succeeded in arriving at the scene of the incident within twenty minutes, on more than 95% of callouts.

Nine IM recovery companies succeeded in retaining part of their IM work, but on balance lost more than 50% of the volume they had over the past contract period. These operators too include a number of the fastest recovery companies active on IM roads during the past contract period. These were Berging- en Transportbedrijf A. Barendregt in Rhoon, Takel- en Bergdienst Van der Eng in Heemskerk and Takel- en Bergingsbedrijf Vreugdenhil in Den Hoorn. These three companies lost districts in which in 2010 - 2013, in some cases, they in fact delivered exceptional performance in each quarter. The table below provides an overview of the affected districts.

Stichting Incident Management Nederland would like to thank these and all other operators for their work over the contract period just ended.

The approach of the 'changing of the guard' in the recovery market led to a slight rise in arrival times during the first quarter of 2013. The average arrival time was 14:48 minutes, which is 19 seconds longer than in the previous quarter and almost two minutes more than in the second quarter of 2012, when IM recovery operators delivered their best performance ever. In thirty districts, 95% of callouts were completed within twenty minutes. In nine districts, the recovery companies succeeded in achieving an arrival of less than twenty minutes in response to all reports. The table below shows the districts in which these performances were achieved.
